AIG contributes to Detroit re-think

02-03-2011

Probably one of the most talked about cities during the recent economic recession in the US, officials from Detroit have visited London to discuss the challenges faced by the post-industrial city. At an event hosted by World Architecture News (WAN) Think Tank in conjunction with the Mayor's office of Detroit and the Urban Land Institute, experts residing in London from diverse fields met to share their ideas on the future of Detroit. Experts were divided into social, economic, environmental groups as well as a governance group of which Applied co-founder Tim Fendley was a part. Revealing the city's possibilities, the event ended on a positive note with the panel emphasising that Detroit needed to create a narrative for change that would help it to rise above the ever changing political climate.
